The dish everyone knows and nobody gets wrong. The mince and the beans together bring over forty grams of protein, and it freezes better than almost anything else.

- 150 gMinced beef, lean
- 120 gTinned kidney beans, drained
- 200 gPassata
- 100 gPeppers
- 30 gOnion
- 10 gOlive oil (1 tbsp)
- Cumin, paprika, chilli, salt, garlic
- 60 gRice, raw
- 15 gLime (½ piece)
- 10 gCoriander
How to make it
- Dice the onion and pepper.
- Heat the oil in the pot and brown the mince, breaking it up as you go. Add the onion, garlic and pepper and fry for three more minutes.
- Stir in the cumin, paprika and chilli, then add the passata and the beans.
- Lid on and simmer gently for 40 minutes. Salt at the end.
- Cook the rice. Serve the chilli with rice, lime and coriander.
One tip
Those 40 minutes are the difference between mince in tomato sauce and chilli. If you are in a hurry, cook it tonight and eat it tomorrow.
