Porridge is oat mash with a better name. Cooked with milk instead of water it brings protein along, and the apple goes in with the skin on, because that is where most of it sits.

Ingredients

Forserving
  • 60 gRolled oats
  • 250 mlmilk, 1.5% fat
  • 150 gApple (1 piece)
  • 15 gWalnuts
  • Cinnamon, a pinch of salt

How to make it

  1. Bring the oats to the boil with the milk and a pinch of salt, then stir over low heat for five minutes until it thickens.
  2. Core the apple and cut it into thin wedges, skin on.
  3. Porridge into the bowl, apple on top, walnuts roughly chopped over it. Finish with cinnamon.

One tip

The pinch of salt is not a typo. Without it porridge tastes flat, with it it tastes of oats.
