Real strudel dough is stretched paper thin. Filo from the chiller is the shortcut nobody notices when the filling is right: sharp apples, raisins, cinnamon, toasted crumbs.
Ingredients
Forpieces
- 200 gFilo pastry (6 sheets)
- 800 gApples, tart (5 piece)
- 60 gSugar
- 50 gRaisins
- 40 gButter, melted
- 30 gwhite breadcrumbs
- Cinnamon, lemon juice, icing sugar
How to make it
- Heat the oven to 190 degrees. Peel the apples, slice them thinly, mix with the sugar, raisins, cinnamon and lemon juice.
- Toast the breadcrumbs golden in one spoon of the butter.
- Lay the filo sheets out overlapping, brush each with butter, scatter the crumbs over them.
- Put the apples on the lower third, fold in the edges, roll it up using a cloth.
- Brush with butter, bake for thirty-five minutes, serve with icing sugar.
One tip
The crumbs soak up the apple juice. Without them the base goes soggy.
