Shop-bought bars are sugar with oat decoration. These hold together with honey and peanut butter and sit in a tin for a week without anyone reading the label.

Ingredients

Forbars
  • 200 gRolled oats
  • 80 gHoney
  • 80 gPeanut butter
  • 50 gAlmonds, chopped
  • 50 gCranberries, dried
  • 20 gCoconut oil
  • A pinch of salt

How to make it

  1. Toast the oats and almonds in a dry pan for five minutes, until they smell of themselves.
  2. Warm the honey, peanut butter, coconut oil and salt in a pot and stir smooth.
  3. Stir in the oats, almonds and cranberries and press the mixture firmly and flat into a lined tin.
  4. Chill for an hour, then cut into eight bars.

One tip

Pressing firmly is the whole trick. Loosely pressed bars fall apart as you cut them.
