A steak takes eight minutes and five minutes of rest. In that time the salad is ready, and the meat goes on top in slices.

Ingredients

Forserving
  • 150 gBeef steak, lean
  • 100 gSalad leaves
  • 150 gTomatoes
  • 100 gCucumber
  • 30 gRed onion
  • 10 gOlive oil (1 tbsp)
  • Salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, mustard

How to make it

  1. Take the steak out of the fridge half an hour before and salt it.
  2. Pan very hot, steak three to four minutes a side without moving it. Onto a board, rest for five minutes.
  3. Arrange the leaves, tomato wedges, sliced cucumber and onion rings on the plate. Whisk the oil, balsamic, mustard, salt and pepper.
  4. Slice the steak across the grain, lay it on the salad, dressing over the top.

One tip

Those five minutes of rest are part of the recipe. Cut straight away and the juice runs onto the board instead of staying in the meat.
